Public construction law

Legal support with building applications and appeals

What we do

In few areas of law, we lawyers need to think as interconnected as in public construction law. It is not uncommon for us to simultaneously analyse and comply with federal legislation (e.g. spatial planning law, water protection law, forest law, environmental protection law), cantonal law (in particular building law and building ordinance) and the municipal building and zoning regulations. In addition, the new Spatial Planning Act and secondary home legislation are causing great legal uncertainty for many building owners.

  • We assist you in preparing and submitting your building application, with which you want to implement your construction project.
  • We represent you before municipal and cantonal building permit authorities.
  • We will write your objection if you do not agree with a published building application. This often requires an assessment of the local locations.
  • We will guide you through the court process if you, as a building owner, are confronted with objections or complaints.
  • Construction outside the building zone in particular is fraught with many hurdles, a lengthy approval process and numerous appeal options. It is particularly important to us that the numerous stables and stables, alpine huts and maiensässe in Valais are finally properly regarded as part of our cultural heritage. We are consistently committed to preventing this cultural asset from disintegrating and to using it in a modern, appropriate way.
